The village of Hambledon is straight out of central casting. There are beautiful old houses, open fields speckled with horses, a village green and a local shop run by a volunteer collective. Fittingly, its main hub for both locals and the armies of walkers marching through the borders of the South Downs and Surrey Hills is its pub, the Merry Harriers.
